1. Introduction 

Welcome to Launceston.com.au (the Site), operated by the City of Launceston (we, us, our). 

These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the Site. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you should discontinue use of the Site immediately. 

We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be effective upon publication on this Site. 

2. Definitions 

In these Terms and Conditions: 

Site means Launceston.com.au and any associated webpages operated by the City of Launceston. 

User Content means any information, images, videos, event listings, business listings, feedback or other material submitted by users through the Site. 

3. Purpose of the Site 

The Site provides information about Launceston and the surrounding region, including visitor experiences, attractions, events, accommodation, food and beverage providers, local businesses, services, and community information. 

Information on the Site is provided for general information purposes only and may be updated, amended, or removed without notice. 

4. Privacy 

Your use of the Site is subject to the City of Launceston Privacy Policy, which explains how personal information may be collected, used, stored, and disclosed. 

By using the Site, you acknowledge that your personal information may be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. 

5. Acceptable Use 

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not:

  • infringe the rights of any person; 
  • interfere with the operation or security of the Site;

By submitting User Content, you grant the City of Launceston a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, reproduce, modify, communicate, and display that content in connection with the operation and promotion of the Site. 

We may remove, edit, reject, or refuse to publish User Content at our sole discretion. 

7. Intellectual Property 

Unless otherwise stated, all content available on the Site, including text, graphics, images, videos, logos, maps, designs, layouts, and software, is owned by or licensed to the City of Launceston and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. 

You may: 

  • view and access content for personal, non-commercial use; and 
  • print or download reasonable portions of content for personal reference. 

You must not, without our prior written permission: 

  • reproduce, modify, distribute, publish, sell, or commercially exploit Site content; 
  • create derivative works from Site content; or 
  • remove copyright or proprietary notices. 

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions prevents users from sharing links to publicly available pages on the Site, provided the content is not altered and appropriate attribution is maintained. 

8. Trade Marks 

The City of Launceston name, logo, branding, and associated marks are the property of the City of Launceston unless otherwise stated. 

Nothing on this Site grants any licence or right to use any trade mark without prior written consent. 

9. Tourism and Visitor Information 

The Site may contain information relating to attractions, events, accommodation, dining, transport, tours, experiences, businesses and visitor services. 

While the City of Launceston makes reasonable efforts to ensure information published on the Site is accurate and up to date, information may change without notice. 

Users should independently confirm relevant information, including: 

  • opening hours; 
  • pricing; 
  • availability; 
  • event schedules; 
  • booking requirements; 
  • accessibility information; and 
  • service conditions. 

Users should confirm details directly with the relevant provider before making travel plans, bookings or purchasing decisions. 

The City of Launceston does not warrant that information on the Site will always be current, complete or accurate.

Certain tourism, accommodation, attraction and event information published on the Site is supplied through the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) and other third-party content providers. 

While the City of Launceston takes reasonable care when publishing such information, we do not independently verify all third-party content and make no representation or warranty regarding its accuracy, completeness, currency or suitability for any particular purpose. 

Information supplied by third parties, including ATDW participants, may be amended, updated or withdrawn at any time without notice. 

Information published on the Site is of a general nature only and should not be relied upon as professional, legal, financial, planning or other advice. 

The City of Launceston: 

  • does not guarantee the availability, quality or suitability of any third-party product, service or experience; 
  • does not endorse third-party businesses, products or services unless expressly stated; and 
  • is not responsible for any transaction, agreement or arrangement entered into between a user and a third-party provider. 

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the City of Launceston accepts no liability for any loss, damage, cost or inconvenience arising from reliance on information supplied by third parties, including information sourced through ATDW.

The Site may contain links to external websites operated by third parties. 

These links are provided for convenience only and do not constitute endorsement by the City of Launceston of any organisation, product, service or information available through those websites. 

We do not control and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, security, privacy practices or availability of external websites. 

Accessing external websites is entirely at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Site and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Launceston, its councillors, employees, officers, contractors, and agents from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from: 

  • your breach of these Terms and Conditions; 
  • your misuse of the Site; or 
  • content submitted by you to the Site. 

15. Security 

While reasonable security measures are employed, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. 

You acknowledge that use of the internet involves inherent security risks and that information transmitted to or from the Site may be intercepted, altered, or lost. 

You are responsible for ensuring that any device used to access the Site is protected against viruses, malware and other security risks.
