Honest. Casual. Everyday Extraordinary.

Cataract on Paterson offers a unique dining experience that blends classic charm with a modern edge. Located on the fringe of Launceston's CBD, the venue features quirky yet elegant industrial interiors paired with contemporary cuisine and polished, welcoming service. The result is a dining experience that feels relaxed yet refined, familiar yet distinctive, and unmistakably Cataract.

Championing premium grass-fed beef alongside free-range chicken and pork, and locally sourced seafood, Cataract on Paterson has become a local favourite. The menu celebrates Tasmanian food producers, with strong relationships ensuring ingredients are selected for quality, flavour and genuine value. Vegan and vegetarian guests are well catered for, and dietary requirements are welcomed and handled with care.

Cataract on Paterson is known for its generous seafood platter, sourced from Tasmanian and Australian waters, its iconic Stonegrill dining experience where steaks are cooked at the table on a 400-degree Celsius volcanic stone, and its indulgent, over-the-top desserts.

Families are warmly welcomed, and a private dining room for up to 18 guests is available for intimate celebrations and business dinners. The restaurant also hosts a much-loved monthly High Tea, offering a refined daytime experience.

Open for dinner every evening from 5pm, Cataract on Paterson is a favourite with locals and visitors alike. Reservations are highly recommended.
